GENERAL INFORMATION

MetPak Standard is the most widely used of all NAB packages. It offers flexibility with day of placement and ad size (140 cms or larger), whether your campaign is in colour or black and white. In short, MetPak rewards frequency of placement.

MetPak is the flagship name of the four metropolitan newspapers:
  1. The New Zealand Herald
  2. The Dominion Post
  3. The Press
  4. Otago Daily Times

Combined, these newspapers deliver maximum reach across the four main metropolitan areas in New Zealand, and they also provide coverage of the surrounding regional areas. Over one million readers aged 15+ will read a MetPak paper on a typical day.

MetPak rewards frequency of placement. Two insertions (x1 Wednesday, x1 Saturday) in each of the 4 metropolitan newspapers on a typical day reaches over 1.5 million New Zealanders aged 15+.

PACKAGE DETAILS

Saving
  • 10-20% off the total cost of the second and subsequent insertions within a 12 day publishing period (12 days counted from the day of first insertion. Sunday not included)

Space Terms
  • Must run in a minimum of three out of four metropolitan dailies - The New Zealand Herald, The Dominion Post, The Press and the Otago Daily Times
  • Minimum of two insertions to appear within twelve publishing days
  • First insertion – normal client rate including loadings / colour if applicable
  • Second and subsequent insertions appearing within twelve publishing days of the first receive discount level:
   - The New Zealand Herald - 10%
   - The Dominion Post, The Press, Otago Daily Times - 20%
  • Space to be up to the same total space as the MetPak first insertion booking, but a variety of sizes within total is acceptable

General Conditions
  • Must be approved and booked through the NAB in New Zealand
  • Minimum size of 140 cms
  • Dates are firm
  • Same size ad for each publication (ad size can decrease for second and subsequent insertions)
  • Copy changes are acceptable
  • Black and white or colour
  • Appropriate loadings for colour and position apply subject to availability at time of booking, no guarantees will be made if loading is not paid
  • All discounts apply to their respective package unless otherwise stated
  • MetPak packages do not apply to Public Notices or Situations Vacant
  • Applicable to commission bearing advertising only
  • Rate card sale only, contract rates apply.
  • All prices quoted are New Zealand dollars
  • All Paks are valid unless cancelled through the NAB
  • Special Conditions may apply

SuperSaver Pak provides a great solution for those clients with limited budgets but requiring extensive national reach. Advertising during weekdays provides a less cluttered environment than in higher volume days (particularly Wednesdays and Saturdays).

  • Minimum of two insertions to appear within twelve publishing days
  • Discount levels to apply per insertion:
   - The New Zealand Herald - 15%
   - The Dominion Post, The Press, Otago Daily Times - 25% per insertion

To access Regional MAX agencies still need to book a minimum of 3 regional newspapers with an ad size of 80 col cm or larger. Rates are then calculated on contract or casual rate for each newspaper with discounts increasing as more papers are added as follows:

• 3- 5 papers – 5%
• 6 – 9 papers – 10%
• 10 – 15 papers – 15%
• 16 – 18 papers – 20%

A standard 40% Regional MAX colour load applies across all regional papers replacing the varying colour load based on ad size. Regional MAX can only be used by accredited agencies for commission bearing rates and as previously can’t be used for Public Notice or Situations Vacant advertising.
